Tailored Enercon turbine training delivered in the Faroe Islands

Wind turbines in island and remote locations often serve as vital lifelines to local energy systems. This is especially true in the Faroe Islands, where the national utility SEV aims to run the entire archipelago on 100% renewable energy by 2030*.

On these remote islands, generating green energy is not without its challenges. Islands face harsh coastal conditions, unpredictable weather, and logistical hurdles that make rapid on-site response more difficult than on the mainland.

Faroe Islands

That’s why, when our industry friends at SEV wanted to be able to service and run their 25 turbines themselves, we were happy to help. We offered them a tailored training plan to equip their technicians with the knowledge needed to run their 13 Enercon turbines on the Húshagi wind farm.

Once our team (shoutout to Ross and Luis) landed in the Faroe Islands, the SEV technicians were given:

  • A comprehensive training programme delivered over 4 days
  • A mix of classroom theory and hands-on turbine experience covering 27+ topics
  • On-site guidance and mentorship
  • An extra 2 days practical assistance to fix 5 turbines that are now spinning efficiently

By sharing our knowledge of maintaining and servicing turbines, the local engineers can keep their Enercon turbines turning independently, now and in the future.
